RIYADH: Seminars on investment in GCC countries and the European Union (EU) will be held in Riyadh and Abu Dhabi in the first quarter of 2013, announced the German Saudi Arabian Liaison Office for Economic Affairs (GESALO).
“The seminars will discuss the result of a two-year study on GCC-EU investment which GESALO has just completed. Initial data are impressive but the overall result will still have to be evaluated. The results will be posted on www.eu-gccinvest.eu soon,” said Christian Engels, GESALO spokesman.
GESALO is part of the worldwide network of the German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (IHK), the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the bilateral German Chambers of Industry and Commerce (AHK).
Engels said that the study aims to draw GCC and European investors closer together for a stepped-up collaboration.
“GESALO believes that sharing the results of the study will promote investment in the GCC as well as in Europe,” he said.
In 2011, researchers sent questionnaires to companies in 26 diverse fields in the GCC as well as in the European Union. The companies had already been involved in direct investment into a production or operations facility in the GCC or Europe, or they were contemplating investing.
“We invited the companies to participate in our study and share their experiences with us. All information has been treated with the utmost care and confidentiality,” said Engels.
