Saudi Electricity Company signed contracts worth SR 1.3 billion to establish three transformer stations in Makkah, Madinah and Asir as part of its efforts to meet growing power demand across the country.
Speaking to reporters, Ali bin Saleh Al-Barrak, CEO of the company, said SEC signed a contract for SR 406.2 million with a national firm to establish a 380/110/13.8KV transformer in Jeddah to boost electricity supply in the city.
The second contract valued at SR 435.8 million was signed to establish a 380KV transformer in Madinah. The third contract for a 380/132KV transformer in Bisha, Asir, is valued at SR 473.5 million, he said.
“All the three projects will be completed in 29 months,” the CEO said. “We are currently implementing a number of power generation, transport and distribution projects in various parts of the country,” he added. “We’ll invest huge amounts to meet power demand.”
