Doha Bank, a major bank in Qatar and an active proponent of green banking in the region, has received an Excellence Award for the Best Corporate CSR Program by a bank in Qatar from the Arab Organization for Social Responsibility.
Doha Bank is one of only two winners in Qatar, with Qatar Foundation subsidiary the Social Development Centre being the other recipient as a non-profit organization.
An official ceremony was held in Dubai this month to recognize the achievements of the winners from various Arab countries.
Doha Bank CEO R. Seetharaman said: “Doha Bank is proud to be recognized as the leading corporate citizen in Qatar for the success of its CSR program and overall corporate citizenship initiatives. Doha Bank’s vision in CSR is to help support the vision of the emir of Qatar to build a sustainable framework for the future based on the core pillars of economic, social, human and environmental development. These are also core tenants of Doha Bank’s sustainability philosophy and drive the bank’s activities, not because it is something that every corporate entity should do, but because these are core beliefs that Doha Bank fully embodies.
“Doha Bank was the first bank in Qatar to fully adopt a position of advocating and practicing green banking, which is one of the core business philosophies that will support sustainability into the future,” he said.
