Saudi Arabia lifted a ban on chicken exports yesterday. However, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry insisted that exporters should return the subsidy of SR 2 per kg.
“If poultry farms want to export their products they have to abide by the rules for exporting subsidized goods,” the ministry said.
It also added that the exporters of chicken and poultry products should pay back the subsidy of SR 2,000 per ton.
The ministry had earlier slapped a ban on chicken exports because of the product’s rising prices in local markets.
The ministry emphasized its policy of meeting local demand for all goods and ensuring supply of products at reasonable prices.
