In addition to the existing free medical clinic in Riyadh, authorities have granted permission to host two more medical clinics for Pakistani expatriates in the Eastern Province and in Tabuk, the country’s ambassador, Muhammad Naeem Khan told his community members recently.
The envoy was speaking at the 36th annual medical symposium of Pakistani Doctors Group-Riyadh (PDGR) held at the Pakistani Embassy in the diplomatic quarter in Riyadh.
Abdulaziz Al-Humaid, executive director of medical affairs at King Fahd Medical City in Riyadh (KFMC), made the keynote address at the symposium.
Ambassador Khan said the PDGR has been conducting a free medical clinic at the embassy premises on weekdays. “This clinic has helped Pakistani expatriates, who do not have the means to seek medical treatment at hospital facilities,” he noted.
“Free medical consultations, medicine and laboratory check-ups are a great help to low-income Pakistanis, who otherwise would not be able to afford medical care”, the envoy said.
On behalf of his community members, the ambassador thanked the Ministry of Health, Eastern Province Gov. Prince Muhammad bin Fahd and Tabuk Gov. Prince Fahd bin Sultan for giving their consent to the establishment of similar free medical clinics in their respective regions. He also conveyed his best wishes and his community’s sincere prayers for the recovery of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah from his recent surgery.
In his speech, Al-Humaid pointed out that Pakistani doctors in the Kingdom have earned a good reputation for their efficiency, diligence and dedication.
During the course of the symposium, two scientific papers were presented by Dr. Mahmoud Al-Yamani, director of the National Neuro-Sciences Institute at KFMC and Dr. Riaz Qureshi, professor at the department of family medicine in the College of Medicine at King Saud University.
Al-Yamani’s presentation was well supplemented with case studies related to brain diseases, as well as statistics pertaining to the management, recovery and mortality of various cases handled at KFMC under his leadership.
