RIYADH: A delegation from the Council of Saudi Chambers (CSC) is set to leave for the Swiss city of Basel on a business mission on Monday, the council announced yesterday.
Tariq Al-Qahtani, chairman of the Saudi-Swiss Business Council, said the three-day visit to Basel is part of CSC’s mission to initiate trade delegations with countries that offer fruitful business opportunities. According to Al-Qahtani, the Saudi delegation plans to exchange ideas with its Swiss counterparts and to find common ground for business cooperation between the two countries.
In addition, the delegation plans to hold a meeting for the Saudi-Swiss Business Council to discuss various investment opportunities.
Al-Qahtani pointed out that the delegation will seek cooperation in multiple sectors including tourism, pharmaceutical industries, education, construction and training, among other fields. He added that Basel was their choice of place for the meeting due to the city’s distinctive climate. “It is the largest industrial city in Switzerland and is buzzing with economic activity.” He also said that Basel was known to be the capital of the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.
Al-Qahtani said the delegation’s program includes meetings with selected Swiss businessmen and business houses to highlight distinctive experiences in the Swiss market and to seek available investment opportunities for both countries.
Saudi Arabia and Switzerland share an excellent business partnership. The Kingdom is considered Switzerland’s leading trade partner in the Arab world with a trade volume reaching SR 13 billion.
The Saudi-Swiss Business Council is considered the first joint business council that Switzerland shares with the Gulf Cooperation Council.
