BUDAPEST: A Hungarian court sentenced Croatian Deputy Prime Minister Radimir Cacic yesterday to 22 months in jail for his involvement in a car accident in 2010 that killed two people.
The Kaposvar court in southwestern Hungary already handed Cacic, who is also economy minister, a 15-month suspended sentence in June. On a second ruling yesterday, it then lengthened it to a 22-month custodial sentence.
The court ruled that the 62-year-old minister had been guilty of a "high degree of recklessness" which carries jail time, as opposed to the first ruling which spoke of "carelessness."
