The two days Educational Exhibition (EDEX) organized by International Indian School, Jeddah (IISJ) Girls Section from Nov. 8-9 was a feast for the eyes. Students showcased various models with their innovative and creative skills covering all major subject areas- science and technology, mathematics, IT and computer science, humanities and social science, languages and literatures, commerce and management, biology and bio-technology, home science and arts, etc.
The event displayed models and shows in around 59 classes with over 500 students participating in the fair. It was inaugurated by Kausar Kidwai, wife of the Indian consul general accompanied by the Principal of IISJ, Syed Masood Ahmad along with other officials in Jeddah.
Catching the attention of crowds was the Mall prepared by the senior students for the first time, which had interactive stalls/dummy shops for dresses, cosmetics, accessories, food products, baby stuffs and many others.
Interactive stalls in the home science section that had students explaining the homemade remedies on- how to dye fabric and clothes by making natural dyes, home decoration, cookery, child rearing, stitching etc. Khadija Hashmi along with her group members from 12th grade displayed a “La Enchanting Sayidaty” stall in this section to explain the domestic beauty tips easily available for the
women.
Some of the students also prepared special shows like “Time Machine” — a prototype peeking into the future, “Submarine Show” the voyage to the bottom of the sea.
Children and parents also looked at models regarding the functions of bank, Harappan culture- the discovery of first historical civilization, the election process in India by allowing the visitors to vote. The junior students depicted the oneness of human race by displaying the origin of earth, formation of land forms, evolution of man and different civilization, natural resources and their conservation, transport and communication, health and environment.
One of the interesting models was on integration of social science for creating a working cockpit. Wadiya , Hafsa, Munira , Umaima and Afifa of 10th grade who were responsible for this cockpit model said this replica of flight arena will enable children and parents to learn how a pilot controls the aircraft and also gave them the brief on the design ergonomic cockpits.

Shakeela Ali, a class teacher said such types of events generate inquisitiveness of learning, increasing the IQ level and imagination power among children and teachers and children come closer to share skills and ideas.
Vice Principal of school, Farahdunnisa said the educational exhibition is the best effort for boosting knowledge among the school students. By participating children are able to improve their abilities and learn more and more.
“We appreciate the efforts of junior and senior students for preparing the models. And special thanks to all the staff of girls section who worked hard to make the event a success” she added.
