FBA 33rd season grand opening today

The long wait is over. The Filipino Basketball Association (FBA) will open its 33rd tournament today, 4 p.m. at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel Sports Complex where families are welcome to watch and enjoy the games Thursdays and Fridays.
FBA president Edgar Mendoza announced a total of 33 teams will parade from four divisions coming from reputable companies and hotels.
The teams are: Inter-Company Bona fide Division — Avengers, Alhamrani Company for Industry (RBF), Bright Star Communication (BSC), Gulf Taleed Commercial Services Co., Huta Group, Nesma & Partners, Nesma Holding Company Ltd., SAPMT-Aramco, Saudi Oger, Tetra Pak and United Metal Coating Co., Ltd. (UNICOIL);
Inter-Hotel Division — Al-Bilad Hotel, Jeddah Hilton Hotel, Inter-Continental Jeddah Hotel, Le Meridien Jeddah Hotel, Movenpick Al-Nawras, Movenpick Jeddah Hotel, Park Hyatt Jeddah, Radisson Blu Hotel, Rosewood Corniche Hotel and Sheraton Jeddah Hotel;
Inter-Commercial Open Non-rated Division — Abna Marantao, Al-Muhaidib Robert & Friends, AVK Saudi Valves Mfg. Company Ltd., Maharlikans-Aida’s Cuisine, Mize of Maya International, Nexuz Flight Operations Services, Paninos and Unidecor;
Inter-Commercial Open Rated Division — Fuji Elevator Selection, Shadow Lounge Selection, SAMCO-Juffali Selection and HAL Consultants.
The opening day is slated to begin with a colorful parade of teams followed by short opening program. Vice Consul and Admin officer Rodney Jonas and Labor Attache Alex Padaen are expected to attend on behalf of Consul General Uriel Norman R. Garibay of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah. Filipino active community leaders, some VIPs, representatives of participating teams and sponsors of the tournament will also grace the occasion.
Himig Ng Kalayaan 2012 grand champion, Eugene Manimtim, and the amazing KSA Knight Movers will do song and dance numbers during the intermission. Free raffle prizes are also at stake for spectators on opening day.

To handle the tournament officiating is the Jeddah Officiating Group (JOG) headed by Noel Miguel. DJ Iceman Mobile Sound Mix also supports the tournament.
