DAMMAM: The International Indian School, Dammam emerged victorious in the interschool debate and science projects competitions held as part of the Cluster Meet 2012 in Dammam.
The debate for juniors featured 26 students from 13 schools. It was a lively show with heated and intense arguments and rebuttals with logic, reasoning and intellectual acumen.
Omkar and Karen Issac of IISD achieved the first position, Reshma Koshy and Suyash Khubchandani of IIS Jubail secured the second place and and Anam Bayazeed and Mohammad Maniyar from IIS Jeddah stood third.
In the senior’s debate 16 students from eight schools competed. The International Indian Public School of Riyadh, represented by Shiyaz Abdul Wahab and Fatima Termizi achieved the first position. The International Indian School of Dammam, represented by Majida Khan and Abdul Nafe, secured the second place, and Al-Falah International School DPS in Jeddah, represented by Nada Mir and Shawki Izzat, stood third.
In the interschool quiz for under 19 years of age, 24 students from 12 schools participated. It was a rare show of knowledge, wisdom, intelligence and spontaneity. Winners were Nabeel Ahmed and Sayantan Das of Delhi Public School, Riyadh. Sanna Zahid and Asif Ahmad Naushad of the Middle East International School in Riyadh came second and Amaan Yusuf Shaikh and Veena Chandran of the International Indian School in Dammam secured third place.
In the interschool science projects competition, 11 schools participated. In the senior category, the project “pedal a watt generator” of the International India School of Dammam’s Edma Farel and Sruthi Parthi won first prize.
The project “solar car” of IIS Jubail’s Mohammed Asif Padela obtained second place. The “hydrolic arm” project of Asad Agha and Mohammed Murtaza, representing IIS Dammam, came third.
In the junior category, the “miniature air-conditioner” by Mohammad Abdullah and Danish Rabbani Khan of IIS Riyadh took the first place. IIS Dammam, represented by Siddarth Achar and Kunal Bansal with the project “ionic cleaner” won second place. The “line-following robot” by Syed Mujahid and Saransh Mohanty of IIS Jubail got the third place.
