Recruitment of Filipino maids to resume soon

JEDDAH: Saudi Arabia will restart issuing job visas for Philippine maidservants beginning next month, said Prince Khaled bin Saud bin Khaled, assistant foreign minister.
He said the Kingdom agreed to resume recruitment of Philippine maids after the two sides reached an agreement that respects the Kingdom’s sovereignty and laws and protects the rights of Saudi employers.
“Our ministry will continue its efforts in cooperation with the Labor Ministry to facilitate recruitment visa procedures by applying modern technology. We’ll also protect the rights of both Saudi employers and foreign workers,” Prince Khaled said.
According to press reports, the Kingdom is likely to reach a similar agreement with Jakarta to resume recruitment of Indonesian house servants.
The Embassies of Indonesia and the Philippines have drafted a 15-page contract to be signed by sponsors, specifying the terms and conditions for employment of their manpower, a report said.
