Malabar Gold joins with IIMK on educational initiative

With a vision to fundamentally transform the Indian education sector in the UAE, the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (IIMK) is all set to organize a workshop, "Gurukul for Gurus," for schoolteachers, principals and educationists in Dubai. The workshop will be held from Dec. 18-20 at Dubai.
Announcing this in a press conference, IIMK Director Debashis Chatterjee said that the objectives of the program is to familiarize educational leaders with the world's best practices and enduring values in creating centers of excellence; understanding self to enhance effectiveness; broadening the horizon of perception and nurturing effective learning in the classrooms.
"This workshop is a demonstration of the fact that the destiny of our country is being shaped in our classrooms," said Chatterjee, who has designed and taught this workshop around the world.
The workshop is sponsored by Malabar Gold & Diamonds to fulfill their share of what Chatterjee describes as "corporate educational responsibility."
Sharing his thoughts on the significance of school education and teachers, Shamlal Ahammed M.P., managing director-international operations, Malabar Gold & Diamonds, said: "We believe quality education at the school level is important to build a base for secondary education and developing the human resources. According to K.P. Abdulsalam, executive director, Malabar Group, this is a continuation of the workshops that was successfully executed by Chatterjee in India.
