Child drowns in Khurmah

A 4-year-old child drowned in a reservoir in Khurmah. Civil Defense rescue teams rushed to the site on being informed of the accident but the child had already died by the time they arrived.
Col. Saeed Sarhan, Civil Defense spokesman in the Makkah Province, said the department received a report of a drowning child but its team could not make it to the scene in time for rescue. An investigation into the accident has been launched.
In other news, a 14-year-old girl and a 52-year-old man were rescued from a house fire by civil defense in Nuzla district of Jeddah. The girl suffered from smoke inhalation and was taken to hospital.
Another fire was reported in the Safa district. Residents were evacuated from a three-story building safely. Giant fans were used to combat thick smoke during the rescue mission. The investigation later revealed that an electric short circuit had caused the fire.
