Police in Madinah returned SR 126,000 to a private educational institution after finding the money in the car of an employee of the institution.
The expatriate employee who drove the car reported to police that his car was stolen while he was inside a bakery, where he had stopped after cashing a work-related check and placing the money in a bag inside the car’s trunk.
Police found the car near a private rest house after having deployed several patrols around a number of districts.
The car and the money were handed over to the institution’s employee. Investigations are under way to arrest the thief, said Madinah police spokesman Col. Fahd Amer Al-Ghannam.
In another case police arrested three Asians accused of stealing SR 226,000 from a library on Al-Mustarah Road. The suspects entered the library after breaking a glass wall on the northeast side of the building.
Police said the suspects broke through doors leading to the office where two safes were located. The safes were broken into easily and police said it took an experienced thief to know how to gain access to the safes.
The men confessed to the robbery and claimed responsibility for other robberies including breaking into three apartments and a store and stealing laptops, mobile phones, jewelry and SR 10,000 in cash.
Al-Ghannam said the stolen money and a getaway car were seized and the suspects detained at the Al-Aqiq police station for further investigation.
