TNT Express in Saudi Arabia and TNT Express in the UAE have received the TAPA certification for 2012-2014, for its countrywide operational hubs. This is a renewal of the certification, which in itself is an achievement due to the stringent process that has to be followed.
Technology Asset Protection Association (TAPA) is a global forum of security, insurance and logistics professionals established to ensure the safe and secure transport, storage and warehousing of TAPA members assets throughout the world.
Mark Woodcock, GM for TNT SAB Express, said: "TNT's investment into enhancing security standards contributes to a better and safer global service offering to our customers."
TAPA certified companies must pass a detailed independent physical premises audit to ensure compliance with numerous Freight Security Requirements (FSRs). The FSR contains elements for access control, employee checks, perimeter security, intruder security devices, monitoring systems, high value storage areas, transit delays and for other areas of concern in warehouses, distribution centers, and consolidation facilities, as well as specifying minimum security measures for drivers.
"This was again a very stringent audit and we are proud to have maintained an excellent score. We view the attainment and retention of such important standards as crucial to the success of our business and that of our clients," added Mark Pell, GM for TNT Express UAE.
Bryan Moulds, MD for TNT Express Middle East, said: "A high level of security is crucial when handling our customers' valuable consignments. The TAPA certification has played a major role in maintaining a notable standard in the logistics industry across the Middle East region."
