JEDDAH: Transport Minister Jabara Al-Seraisry yesterday signed 41 road contracts worth more than SR 2.96 billion. He said the new road projects have been approved by the current national budget.
The contracts cover a number of new road projects valued at SR 213 million in the Makkah province, including the first phase of the second ring road in Jeddah as well as Jabal Sharqi and Jabal Thudair roads in Muzdalifah.
Referring to new road contracts in Madinah, the minister said it includes construction of Madinah-Al-Ula Expressway at a cost of SR 140 million. New road projects in Madinah will cost a total SR 268 million.
According to a SPA report, the Riyadh province has got new road projects worth SR 282 million, including Dharma-Shaqra-Dawadmi-Afeef Road and another road linking the Riyadh-Dammam Expressway.
Four contracts worth SR 112 million have been signed for the Eastern Province, SPA said. The Qassim Province has got two projects SR 441 million including part of Jubail-Qassim Expressway.
Al-Seraisry signed five contracts valued at SR 348.5 million for the Asir province including Fursha-Rabua-Jalaba-Dhahran Al-Janoub Road. In Tabuk, road projects worth SR 294 million will be implemented, SPA said. It includes part of Madinah-Tabuk Expressway.
Contracts have been signed for the construction of SR 259 million Hail-Madinah Road, Abu Hadariya-Hafr Al-Baten-Rafha Road (SR 140 million), Shuqaiq-Tiwal Expressway (SR 139 million), Rain-Bisha Road (SR 199 million) that will link Baha with Riyadh Road, and the intersection of King Abdullah Road with Qaeth Road in Al-Jouf (SR 104 million).
