The Higher Education Ministry has allowed nearly 1,000 students, who were stranded following the closure of an unlicensed college of science and technology in Jeddah, to join similar courses at King Abdulaziz University.
“We have closed the college as a result of its flagrant violation of the ministry’s rules and regulations,” the ministry said, adding that it has coordinated with KAU to accommodate the stranded students.
However, the ministry said it was not mandatory for the students to join KAU, adding that they can try to get admissions at private universities or colleges.
“We have agreed with KAU to open a page on its website in order for these students to register with the university from today and contact the deanship for admission and registration next Saturday,” the ministry said.
The ministry warned Saudi students against joining any private college or university in the Kingdom without making sure about their legal status, by visiting the ministry’s website.
