Hundreds of palm trees burned

MADINAH: More than 560 trees were burned in a fire that broke out Wednesday at two deserted date palm farms in Al-Oula, a spokesman of the Civil Defense in Madinah, Col. Khaled Mubarak Al-Johani, announced yesterday. He said no one was hurt or injured in the fire that lasted for more than five hours before it was put out.
The spokesman said fire-fighting brigades, rescue teams and ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
According to the spokesman, the fire broke out at two neighboring palm farms in Abu Zaraieb district in Mighaira village in the south of Al-Oula.
He said investigations were being carried out to establish the cause of the fire.
