Race is on to acquire world's most exclusive crossover

Infiniti is bracing itself for a Formula One-inspired race of a different kind as it opened bookings yesterday (Wednesday) across the Middle East for the FX Vettel Edition. Just 50 units of the world's most exclusive crossover, designed by Infiniti's brand ambassador and reigning Formula One Drivers' World Champion, Sebastian Vettel, will be made available across the region. Featuring a 420bhp V8-engine, dry carbon-fiber aerodynamic package, unique 21" BBS alloy wheels and a bespoke interior to Vettel's own specification, competition to be one of the select few owners of the one-of-a-kind FX Vettel Edition is going to be tough.
"The Infiniti FX Vettel Edition is a one-of-a-kind, a project that is unlikely to be repeated," said Juergen Schmitz, GM, Infiniti Middle East. "It's been borne from a close collaboration between the reigning Formula One champion and one of the world's finest car designers, Infiniti's Shiro Nakamura, and goes on sale a little over a year since the concept was conceived. It's another inspired performance by Sebastian Vettel and Infiniti, offering our customers direct benefits from Infiniti's association with Formula One.

Vettel added: "This is the first road car I have helped develop. Usually I have hundreds of engineers building one car just for me. So it is fantastic for me to contribute to the design of a car.

The FX Vettel Edition will not only be one of 2013's most exclusive new performance cars but also one of the most focused, with the production cars being virtually identical to the concept version. Featuring an aerodynamics package developed in collaboration with Red Bull Racing, the FX Vettel Edition can claim both sleeker aerodynamics (drag is reduced by 5 percent) and, thanks to the rear spoiler, an additional 30 percent downforce.
