Riding momentum of its upset win last week, Team Unica stole the limelight from Team Habagat in week two of the Unified Filipino Tenpin Bowlers of Riyadh (UFTBR)-Etihad Airways Tuesday Bowling League at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC).
Unica overpowered Yaris X with a perfect score of 22 points against 8 for Yaris and bagged the Team of the Week awards.
Nap Torres, one of Riyadh’s top guns, provided the firepower for Unica with a high four-game series of 955 and was ably supported by Thong Asuncion (856), Armin Isles (833), Jojo Gabriel (828) and Beth Danganan (725).
Habagat, led by UFTBR Chairman Ernee Noto, also achieved a similar perfect score feat with a 22-4 win over Pin Pals but was beaten by Unica for the week honors due to its lower total pinfalls.
In other matches, SABB Advance sustained its winning form, beating Lane Cruiser 16-9, Ayaw Na won over Mandirigma II 16-11, NBA defeated Thrill Seekers 19-9, Majestic downed Pin Hitters 19-8 and Vinnell Arabia topped SACO Bolts 21-6.
Fathi Abdulaziz of Habagat took the men’s Bowler of the Week award with a series of 961 with Ian Choco of SABB Advance clinching the ladies Bowler of the Week accolade on 818.
Torres propelled himself at the top of Group 1 MVP awards with an average of 238.75 followed by Ronald Bautista (234.88) and Noto (227.75). In the Group 2 MVP race, Shawn Rickets leads with an average of 206.5 followed by Nelson Respicio (192.25) and Fathi (192.0).
Once again, Fahad Pervez from Etihad Airways, the national airline of UAE and one of the fastest growing airlines in the world, attended the games and raffled off some surprise gifts to bowlers. He also announced and made available various promos and special flight packages available not only for Filipinos but other nationalities as well, details of which can be accessed in the airline’s website. Etihad will donate three return air tickets as major prizes for excellent performers in the league.
The league organizers are: Cesar De Mesa, Armin Isles, Dennis Durens, Ian Choco, Ruby Urrutia, Jim Dela Rosa, Art Palustre, Pau Feria, Nap Torres and Ernee Noto.
