Unstoppable guard Aries Sandoval claimed MVP honors as Al-Tayar took Game 3 over PrintoPack and won Inter-Company Group D championship crown, scoring center and MVP Datuin led SPS past B-Cola for the Inter-Company B title, while the star point guard Lober Batioco was the MVP as Rio-Trade swept its best-of-three Inter-Company C title series with Mountain Dew in the 2012 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association at the Industrial City Dawah Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
After winning the second game and forcing the decider Tayar was not to be denied beating PrintoPack 69-61 to bring home the championship trophy.
Sandoval scored only 10 points but the most importantly he played well since the start of the league and showed tremendous game on both ends of the court.
Aquino, awarded Best Center, scored 16 points while displaying his rebounding prowess and great defense. Santiago, who played in pain, contributed 8 points including four crucial free throws in the final minutes of the game.
Caliskis scored 20 points for PrintoPack which fell short in the game that mattered the most.
PrintoPack finished the eliminations on top of the standings, and won the first game of the series but Tayar boys hung tough and never gave PrintoPack any chance in Game 3.
B-Cola forced Game 3 in the best-of-three against SPS yet can’t go home with a smile and trophy.
SPS, determined to win the series, mounted a huge run and left B-Cola trailing by almost 20 points. Tababa scored 19 points but SPS proved why it is the No. 1 team during the eliminations.
Best Center and MVP Datuin did not play well and only scored 8 points. Still, he was the one that brought SPS to the finals and his presence in the paint played a big part in SPS’s title campaign.
Rio-Trade was considered underdog in the series against powerhouse Mountain Dew, but with a big fighting heart even against the big guys it succeeded and never gave up a single game for an impressive sweep.
Best Guard Nemitz Dangao scored 30 points for Mountain Dew and had been a strong MVP candidate but the Twin Towers of Valle and Villalon combined for 34 and the MVP Batioco really made an impact with 14 points for Rio-Trade.
