Aziziah cagers dished out outstanding performances to stay undefeated while Yamama and Farazdaq teams put up good fights to prevail during the sixth week of action in the Siglakas International Riyadh South District Unity Cup Basketball Tournament 2012 at the Dunes Compound Filipino Community basketball court in Olaya Thalateen area here.
Aziziah squad coached by Willy Abdon brought down Shemesy 71-68. After the winning team led after the initial period at 20-15 Chris Mangibin, Rusty Rabe, Crisvin Aborde, Bobby Garcia and Reneil Ebora had coach Cris Aborde’s Shemesy tying at 36 after the second quarter scores and taking the driver’s seat 54-50 to close the third period.
The final quarter scenario was a see-saw battle in which the Aziziah trio of Raymond Gile, Edison Bien and Angel Bautista took care of business to combine for 21 total points in the period.
Joey Gamboa’s Al Kharj suffered its third defeat courtesy of Yamama team of coach Noel Malayo 83-60.
Shorthanded Al Kharj started strong and close the first quarter ahead by 16-11 scores. The complexion of the game changed during the second quarter when Yamama’s swingman Dennis Enriquez exploded with 14 points and rookie Ruben Hilig added 8 in a 26-6 blast to close the period at 37-22.
Ricky Vargas, Ronnie Maninang and Raymond Penas joined forces to continue Yamama’s domination and conclude the third period way in front at 63-42.
Farazdaq team of Benjamin Mendoza recovered from its previous defeat with a 68-57 thrashing of Roma team of Joey Pasimo.
Farazdaq enjoyed an 11-point lead 19-8 after the first quarter and was in control for much of the game.
