A small art exhibition was opened recently here in Taif under the patronage of Hayder Ziad, manager of antiquities in Taif.
The fair at Shubra historical palace contains more than 30 art sculptures from Bahraini sculptors Ali Al-Muhaimid and Fuad Al-bin Falah.
Falah developed a great passion for sculpting at an early age.
He is a member of the Bahrain Arts Society and has participated in various art exhibitions.
Mohammad Al-Thagafi, Saudi sculptor and chairman of the Taif Arts and Culture Association, said: “Muhaimid and Falah have drawn on their very rich experiences and environmental themes that can be seen clearly in their work.
“The materials they use are varied; they used wood, marble and bronze.
“They participated in different international forums and symposiums, shaping their experiences and ability to astonish.
“The artists asked us to call this exhibit ‘small artworks’ because they made these sculptures small in size, so it is easy to transfer them to another place and they are also considered part of a new, modern and unique style.”
Al-Thagafi said the exhibition would be held in Taif for 10 days.
Organizers chose summertime to hold the event because that is the peak season for visitors to Taif, he explained.
“Visitors can experience these two artists’ work and admire their beauty. This is one of the roles of the Taif Arts and Culture Association.”
Al-Thagafi expressed anger at the lack of attention given to sculpture art.
A delegation from the Royal Commission for Jubail and Yanbu came and visited the fair.
The delegation included four art supervisors and 25 students.
Al-Thagafi received them and took them on a tour of the exhibition.
