The International Islamic Relief Organization of Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) has expressed its deep gratitude to the United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) for setting up a new fund named after the late Crown Prince Naif. The fund has been founded in the Gaza Strip to help refugees.
Adnan Khalil Basha, IIROSA's secretary-general, said the new fund, founded by the UNRWA, is testimony to the attention given by Prince Naif to refugees in the Gaza Strip.
He said: “A Saudi committee supervised by Prince Naif had always generously given donations to needy people in the area and the Kingdom has always supported the UNRWA in its role in ending the suffering of refugees around the world.”
He also said the Kingdom has always been keen to support the UNRWA so it can fulfill its commitment to deliver food, health care and education to refugees.
He added this support resulted in the Kingdom being handed the chairmanship of the UNRWA Advisory Committee in 2010. He said the Kingdom was the first Arab state to hold this position among the agency’s 23 members.
