PISJ-ES honors 2012 graduates

Pakistan International School Jeddah (English Section) held the graduation ceremony for the Y-13 students on Sunday.
Pakistan Ambassador Muhammad Naeem Khan was the chief guest. Consul General Abdul Salik Khan. Khaled Al-Harthi, director of education, Jeddah, Tarek Mishkhas, Urdu News editor in chief, and Qamar Siddique Raja were guests of honor.
The Principal of PISJ-ES, Sen. Sehar Kamran addressed the PISJ-ES graduates and said, “Today we are here to honor your contributions. In your own way, each and everyone of you has enriched this institution and you should celebrate your success. But, this is the beginning of your journey; and not the end, so don’t stop learning.
She also stressed that students should not forget their obligation toward their country when they think about their career and future goals. The students should have a broad vision that will give their life more meaning and purpose.
She added, “The glorious results of the students; their top rankings and achievements in the Cambridge University board exams have brought pride, not only to the school, students and their parents, but also to our beloved country.”
The program proceeded with the cake cutting ceremony in celebration of the 18th anniversary of the Urdu News. After that the graduation ceremony commenced with the conferment of diplomas to the students followed by the brilliant performance of YR and Y1 students appreciating their seniors. The student of the year Mashael Kamran (girl’s) and Hassan Iftikhar (boy’s) shared their views with the fellow graduate students.
Mashael said that PISJ has taught her a lot over the past 13 years. “It gave me confidence that one requires in the practical life — especially at times when problems hit you head-on. It is this esteemed institution that made us, what we are today.’’
Iftikhar said, “The prime reason I stand here today is Allah, my parents, teachers and PISJ family. There are people who are full of fears of failure to start a journey, some don’t complete their journey and then there are winners who end a journey and I see you as winners and your hard work has earned you this graduating hat.”
He added, quoting his principal, “Education is important but without proper character building you might be not able to take full advantage of your education in life.” The students, who excelled in CIE, were also awarded in the event for securing 4 straight “A’’ in AS exams held in May/June 2011 were Mohammad Ali, Syed Otaiba Imran, Azib Shahid and Narjis Fatima Premjee.
Mishkhas in his address said: “Every time I enter this school, I feel that I have entered Pakistan …. This school gives a true and bright picture of Pakistan… the Pakistan we want to see. When I see the students here motivated and want to achieve anything I see loads of courage in them.” He told the students that whichever school they opt to go from here, they would be a winners “because the school has prepared you for every challenge.”
Al Harthi said: “I am happy to be a part of this graduation ceremony. I have visited this school twice this year and I was very fascinated with the level of students and organization. And also this ceremony was excellent. I congratulate all the students.”
The ambassador in his address said: “I am pleased to attend the graduation ceremony of PISJ. I’m impressed with the quality of event, the way it is organized, performance of the students to the award distribution ceremony. I commend the students, the staff and especially Principal Sehar Kamran for this wonderful event.”
He called on students to seek quality education because success can be attained only through devotion of energy, time and effort in quality education. He also called on the parents to invest in the future of their children by investing in their education.
