Marriott opens two major properties in Riyadh

Marriott Group has opened two prime upscale luxury projects in the Saudi capital city — the Marriott Executive Apartments and the Courtyard Riyadh by Marriott. The Marriott Executive Apartments is now open for top-notch executives and guests for longer stay, while the Courtyard Hotel conveniently located near the entrance to the capital's Diplomatic Quarter, has also opened its gates for check-in ahead of the holy month of Ramadan.

This was disclosed by Khaldoun Hayajneh, general manager of the Riyadh Marriott Hotel here yesterday. Hayajneh, who gave an overview of the growing operation of Marriott Hotel chain in Saudi Arabia in an interview, said that Riyadh Marriott Hotel has also come up with the hottest deal this summer. “Our guest will be allowed to stay three nights and pay for two nights only,” he added. Also, a deluxe double room including breakfast for two persons will accommodate two kids, he said.

This will be in addition to the complimentary enrolment in Marriott rewards program, use of Bodyline Health Club & Spa besides other facilities. This offer is especially created for the travelers during summer vacations and is valid until Aug. 31. On the new hotel Courtyard Riyadh, he said that the new hotel near the diplomatic area was a beautiful property just minutes-drive from major shopping malls and downtown districts with easy access to and from the King Khaled International Airport.

He pointed out that the new hotel offers 186 spacious, smartly appointed guest rooms, including executive suites and five junior suites, all providing the perfect environment to work and relax. Hayajneh, who has the distinction to serve in several countries including Jordan, Belgium, Hong Kong, Venezuela and Panama in South America prior to joining Marriott, said that the Riyadh Marriott Hotel had been doing well on all fronts.
To this end, he pointed out that the new Terrace Grill Steakhouse of Riyadh Marriott won the MENA Travel Awards 2012 that was held in Dubai during the Arabian Travel Market earlier in May. Hayajneh said that the Terrace Grill served in the traditions of great American steakhouses featuring finest quality American-certified Angus beef steaks, succulent chops as well as a variety of mouth-watering seafood. This restaurant is increasingly becoming popular among hotel guests as well as guests from the city.
Asked about the features of luxury Executive Apartment, which is the first of it kind in Riyadh, the Marriott chief said that Marriott International opened its first Marriott Executive Apartments branded hotel in the Kingdom last month. The exclusive Marriott Executive Apartments are designed for extended-stay business travelers and long family holidays, offering 117 beautifully appointed one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments overlooking the Riyadh skyline, he added.

He said that the apartments are strategically located in Al- Mather street adjacent to Riyadh Marriott Hotel, near King Fahd Medical City. “Designed for extended stay travelers, Marriott Executive Apartments offers the convenience of a five-star, full-service hotel with the space, ambience and privacy of residential living,” said Hayajneh. “We are pleased to be bringing this brand to Saudi Arabia,” said Hayajneh, while referring to the growing number of guests checking in the apartments.
Asked about the preparations being made by Marriott for the holy month of Ramadan this year, he said that the hotel would create “Ramadan Zaman” concept, which combines unique hospitality with special Ramadan cuisine, drinks and deserts. The hotel, he said, attracted some 25,000 guests including men, women and children during Ramadan last year. “Last but not the least, as a part of “Marriott’s sprit to Serve” program the hotel remain involved in charity and community projects round the year,” said Hayajneh.

He pointed out that the hotel has had several programs for the welfare of disabled children, orphans and the needy people of society. “The aim is basically to help them to reintegrate them into the mainstream of Saudi society,” he noted. On the sports front, Marriott has announced plans to sponsor Golf Tournament in November this year, and the Riyadh Marriott’s basketball and cricket teams have been runners up in the recently concluded inter-hotel tournaments, he said.
