Trane, one of the leading global providers of air-conditioning systems and solutions, took part in the recent District Cooling Summit and discussed energy efficiency and the environmental benefits of the infrastructure systems installed at Riyadh’s King Abdullah Financial District (KAFD).
The KAFD is designed to be the world’s first major financial district of the 21st century, and at the summit, Albert Haykal, district cooling specialist for the Middle East region for Trane, described the role Trane is playing in the new financial district.
Trane was selected to provide a cooling solution for the district that would be energy efficient, reliable and environmentally responsible.
Trane is providing systems for two 50,000-ton cooling plants nearing completion at the site.
They are expected to be commissioned in either next month or in August.
Each cooling plant features 16 Trane EarthWise CenTraVac chillers.
The financial district will require only 80,000 tons of the systems’ 100,000-ton capacity.
Two massive chilled water thermal storage tanks will be added to optimize the systems’ capabilities.
During off-peak periods (usually at night), the cooling plant will reduce the temperature of these thermal reservoirs, which will be brought on line during peak periods, i.e. when the facility is fully occupied and the heat of the day is at its peak.
The summit included a wide range of industry experts drawn from many related disciplines.
Trane was a part sponsor of the event.
Trane is represented by Dallah Trading Co. (DTC) as the sole agent for all Trane equipment and solutions covering entire product range of mini-splits to centrifugal chillers in the Kingdom.
Under the able guidance of Director General Samir Al-Ammari, DTC is achieving great success with its substantial presence in Jeddah, Riyadh and Dammam for sales and after-sales services.
In view of Kingdom’s exponential power demand and the efforts of Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) to cope with the additional load, Samir Al-Ammari has urged all concerned officials to choose the best efficient air-conditioning equipment available in the industry.
