Dauha Al Uloom International School in Jeddah recently observed World Environment Day with great zeal to raise awareness on environmental issues.
The event was flagged off by planting trees to remind everyone on the importance of trees for the sustenance of life. It was followed by an environmental awareness rally by students of the KG section.
The tiny tots conducted a procession raising banners and shouting slogans urging everyone to conserve natural resources for the present and future generations.
The theme of this year’s celebration was “Green economy,” said Principal Hemalatha Martin. “We have organized a number of awareness programs like painting, poster-making and elocution competitions,” she said. Students displayed excellent posters with messages on reducing pollution, conserving the flora and fauna and global warming, winning the appreciation of parents, teachers and other visitors.
Addressing a ceremony on the occasion, Martin highlighted the gross challenges facing the environment today.
M.V.A. Saleem, managing director, emphasized the importance of protecting the environment and said, “We should all join hands and move forward to make our earth green and clean again, for our future and the future of our planet.”
