The Saudi Basic Industries Corporation (SABIC) organized a creative drawing contest in Yanbu to discover new and hidden talents among school students at various levels and age groups, both boys and girls.
The contest attracted more than 400 entries covering three key subjects: preservation of the environment, the construction boom, and SABIC products.
A panel of judges, comprising teachers, selected the top 30 works of distinction, with nine shortlisted as the winning entries.
The nine student winners were honored at a ceremony held at the Educational Department in Yanbu.
It was held with the support of Mohammed bin Farraj Bakhit, Yanbu, director of education and in the presence of two presidents of SABIC manufacturing affiliates — Ahmed Al-Shaikh, YANPET, and Osama Bashaikh, YANSAB.
The audience had the opportunity to view the winning entries and understand the main objectives of the contest.
Outstanding students who participated in the SABIC Mathematics Olympiad, and had won local, regional and international acclaim, were also honored at the ceremony.
The director of the Education Department appreciated SABIC’s leading role in supporting social activities in the region, and hoped such support would be maintained and enhanced.
An exhibition of the winning works was held for two weeks at the Yanbu Mall.
It was inaugurated by Mohammed bin Farraj Bakhit, in the presence of Abdul Mohsen Husseini, manager, corporate communications, SABIC Western Region, and a number of officials from the Education Department.
