Head of the Saudi Presidency of Meteorology and Environmental Protection (PME) Prince Turki bin Nasser will attend today (Tuesday) in Jeddah a prize awards ceremony honoring media and journalists covering environmental issues, Saudi Press Agency reported.
The prizes, valued at SR 120,000, cover several categories including best press item (report, feature or study), best article on environmental protection, best journalist, best photo, in addition to the best newspaper dealing with such issues.
Earlier, the PME announced the winners of the prizes and Al-Yum newspaper was selected the best newspaper covering environmental issues. Muhammed Dawood of Okaz newspaper was declared the best journalist, while the best press item award was jointly shared by Yasir Ali Al-Maarik (Al-Jazeera) and Ali Talib Shiraya (Asharq Al-Awsat).
The prize for best article went to Amal Al-Sibai (Saudi Gazette) and Sulaiman Abdulaziz Al-Mishal (Al-Eqtisadiah) while the best photo prize was shared by Muhammed Al-Zahrani (Okaz) and Khalid Mahdi Rashid (Al-Bilad).
