IYWA Cup Football tiltoff to colorful start

IYWA Cup Football Tournament got off to a colorful start with all participating teams joining the parade in their resplendent uniforms during the opening ceremony.
Chief guest S.D. Moorthy, consul Community Welfare at Consulate General of India, formally inaugurated the 14 days league-cum-knockout last Friday at Dunk Football ground near the IKEA showroom on Tahlia Street here.
The first match of the tournament was played between Shareef Khan Football Club and Barca Football Club. Spectators witnessed fine football skill, excellent passing and coordination between players of both teams. Most of the players in both sides consist young players who were born and raised in Saudi Arabia and were accustomed to the playing conditions as they conduct practice sessions throughout the year.
There were some good moves and counter attacks by both teams but experience prevailed over youthful exuberance as Shareef Khan FC won by 2-1 against Barca FC before a sizeable weekend crowd at Dunk Football ground.
Mohammed Zamman netted both goals for winning team and was declared Best Player of the match while Waleed Shamlam scored the lone goal for Barca FC. The match referee was Mohammed Jaweed supported by Syed Kazim Hussain and Mir Fazal Ali as linesman and Mir Taqi Ali was the fourth referee.
Earlier, IYWA President Surendra Pal Singh welcomed the gathering, S.D. Moorthy, and Ramnarayan Iyer, IYWA chief patron, also spoke while Media Coordinator Syed Baqer Ali gave the vote of thanks, Mir Gazanfar Ali Zaki General Secretary, Anwar Ul Haq Treasurer, Vice-Presidents Hassan Bayazeed Ather, Zubair Mohammed, and Aijaz Ahmed Khan, Event Coordinator Tanveer Siddiqui and Ather Jaweed welcomed the players. Prinicpal at International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) Masood Ahmed, Zafarullah Khan Compensation Manager of Glaxo, Yusuf Ali Jaweed Country Manager Brunie Airlines and Shamim Kausar Chairman Khak –E-Taiba graced the opening ceremony as guest of honor.
