Lulu Mango festival lines up delicious range

Lulu Hypermarkets has organized a 10-day mango festival beginning today at all their outlets in Riyadh and Alkhobar.
The festival will be formally inaugurated in both the cities this evening.
Mohsen Al-Marzook of the Eastern Province Municipality will open the festival in Alkhobar.
A delectable and luscious variety of mangoes from all over the world will be on display and sale at competitive prices. Among the many varieties will be mangoes from Jizan.
Lulu has always been engaged in promoting the local products and has been in close touch with the Agricultural Ministry to promote local produce.
Saudi Arabia is taking keen interest to develop the cultivation of mangoes in the southern region, especially in and around Jizan, where the climatic conditions are said to be more suitable for growing mango trees. There will be more than 10 varieties of mangoes from Jizan at the festival.
“Dozens of popular and delicious mangoes from countries such as India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Yemen, Thailand, Kenya, the Philippines and Mexico,” said Abdul Saleem V. K., regional manager, Central Province.
“Among the more than 100 popular varieties will be gudadath, chockanan, kesat, mahachanok, alphonso, badami, totapuri, rajapuri, kesar, rumali, mallika, sindhur, dusehri, langda and malgova.”
“Mangoes from almost all mango-producing countries have been imported for this festival,” said Rizwin Razak, buying manager (fruit and vegetables) at Lulu Saudi Hypermarkets.
“The mangoes are of all different sizes. Some varieties are very small while others are very big. On display and for sale will be gudadath and palmar mangoes which weigh more than 1.2 kg and the smallest mango variety will be chakkarakutti from India weighing 0.25 gm,” said Abdul Basheer, regional director, Eastern Province.
As always, Lulu is expecting huge interest from its customers.
“Through such festivals we add value to our customers,” added Abdul Basheer.
