Employees, contractors, suppliers and special guests gathered in Jubail on Tuesday, Feb. 21, to celebrate the accomplishment. “This is the result of continuous and exceptional efforts by our employees, contractors, suppliers and community stakeholders,” said Pierre Jonette, CEO, ArcelorMittal Jubail. “Health and safety is our No. 1 priority.”
Arnaud Jouron, chairman of ArcelorMittal Jubail and CEO of ArcelorMittal Tubular Products, Luxembourg, and Nasser Bin-Jarallah, chairman, Al-Tanmiah Co., Riyadh, greeted the assembled guests and congratulated the employees. They expressed delight at the company’s achievement.
“The construction of the Jubail mill is the key to the development of the energy business of ArcelorMittal tubular products,” said Jouron. “Safety is always the first priority of our group ... We are especially proud of the exceptional leadership demonstrated by our Jubail project.”
“The product range and capacity of the new seamless mill is a very important development for us in Saudi Arabia,” said Bin-Jarallah. “I am happy to see such enthusiasm toward the success of this project.”
Representatives of the project’s principal contractors, such as A. Suresh, general manager, Nasser S. Al-Hajri Corp., and Mufid Hattab, CEO, International Building Systems Factory, also expressed their thanks.
ArcelorMittal Jubail will be the largest seamless tubular products mill in the Middle East once operational next year, with installed rolling capacity of more than 600,000 tons. The company is a joint venture between the world’s largest steel company, ArcelorMittal, and Al-Tanmiah Company for Industrial and Commercial Investment, Riyadh.
