The families were from all walks of life from the Kingdom and other countries.
The perimeter and parking areas were full of cars belonging to the zoo visitors, as were the adjoining areas.
Tuesday morning was allotted for men and the afternoon for families.
Thirty-four year-old Abit Malik, who works for the Ministry of National Defense, said that it was his first time at Riyadh Zoo with his family.
“I have heard from friends and colleagues that Riyadh Zoo boasts different animals. Aside from those coming from other foreign countries, I’d like to find out if there are also any animals from Pakistan,” said Malik, who is from Karachi. He was with wife Natasha and baby boy Ryan.
A Filipino couple, Ben Maderazo of Obeikan Printing and wife Rochelle, were among those enjoying the mild afternoon weather.
“It’s fun to be here; a good break from working for a living. I guess it will be one good thing to remember the Kingdom by when we’re back home for good,” he said.
Israh Sayed, an 18 year-old student at Cairo University vacationing in Riyadh, said that she was enjoying being at the zoo.
“I had a lot of fun with my family here,” she said as she and her sister bought a ticket for a train ride inside the zoo. A ticket cost SR2.
