The election committee in Jeddah has held three meetings under the chairmanship of Mayor Hani Aburas to prepare for the polls, held for the second time after six years.
The meeting decided to set up 21 polling stations in other towns near Jeddah.
Meanwhile, Arab News learned that many people have started campaigning for the election, making use of their experiences from Jeddah Chamber elections.
Some academics and other prominent personalities in the city are planning to forge alliances to contest the polls.
Bassam Akhdar, a member of the Jeddah Municipal Council, urged potential contestants to think many times before filing as candidates.
"They should also think what contributions they can make for the development of Jeddah," he said.
