Results of the Grade 10 exam conducted by the New Delhi-based Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) in March 2010 were announced on the CBSE website on Friday. The International Indian School Jeddah (IISJ) had three of its students securing A1 grades in all five subjects, while the International Indian School Riyadh had one student securing A1 grade in all five subjects.
From this year onward, the CBSE has done away with a numerical marking system for the exam and replaced it with a grading system.
Of the 706 students from IISD who registered for the Grade 10 exam, 695 appeared. Of them, 687 emerged successful. From the Riyadh school, 714 registered for the exam but only 702 appeared. Of them, 679 were successful.

IISD's principal Dr. E.K. Mohammed Shaffe, and Managing Committee Chairman John Thomas congratulated the top scorers.
"Our students, their parents and teachers are the real architects of this excellent academic performance," said Shaffe.
"These excellent results combined with the stellar performance by our Grade 12 students just a few days ago have only reinforced the image of our school as a top Indian institution in the entire Kingdom," he said.
The Indian School in Jubail too had excellent results. "All our students qualified with magnificent grades. Credit should go to the students, their parents and the teaching community," said an elated Jubail school principal Syed Hameed.
"Extra coaching and other institutional support extended throughout the year to students helped in their better performance this year."
Jubail School Chairman Jamshed Akhter said his school followed a transparent and competitive system and "the results are proof of what we can achieve through hard work and vision." At the IISJ, out of 696 students who appeared for the exam, 681 qualified and 14 others are eligible for improvement. A total of 1,061 'A' grades were obtained by IISJ students in different subjects.
Among the boys, Essam Faishullah scored 'A1' grades in all five subjects, while Afroz Shahana Ashraf and Lubna Amir Patel were the two top scorers among female students.
"Our school has 100 percent pass results and I have personally congratulated the top scorers of the school," said Salah Karadan, chairman of the managing committee at IISJ, while congratulating the successful students. "Everyone is still getting used to this new system of grading and we are confident there will be much improvement in our students' grades in the future," he added.  There was also good news for another Jeddah-based Indian school, Al-Wurood International. Its students also achieved a 100 percent pass rate in the exam. Fareeha Jabeen was the top student.
