Tamer Group celebrates 90 years of service

As Tamer Group celebrated its 90 years of service in the pharmaceutical industry, its hierarchy pledged yesterday to forge ahead with deployment of more Saudi men and women in line with the Saudization policy of the Kingdom.
Speaking at a ceremony, Company's Chairman Ayman M. Tamer acknowledged the great support and comprehensive care given to the private sector within the economic system of the government ably led by Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah.
"We share the great support given by our wise leadership to the various economic and social sectors. Today, we are gathered here to celebrate our 90th anniversary, which is accompanied by successes during the blessed milestones that marked our transition from importing medicines to manufacturing them locally," Tamer said, adding that this enhances the efficiency of the local staff, increases job opportunities for Saudis, resulting in nationalization of the workforce.
Moreover, he pointed out that focus has been given to hiring women as well as people with special needs encouraging them and offering them the required support.
He said Tamer group has come a long way since 1922 when Dr. Mohammed Said Tamer founded the region's first pharmacy.
"Our activities include importing, distributing, promoting, marketing and manufacturing a wide range of products and services through partnership agreements and strategic alliances around the world," he added.
As for the company's plans for the next 10 years, he told Arab News that he would focus on developing soft skills, developing its infrastructure and also developing the local human resources. In Sharjah, he said the company has $ 100 million investment for a Research and Development facility and its second phase will be to develop a manufacturing complex too.
