The general assembly of the International Islamic Relief Organization-Saudi Arabia (IIROSA) will hold its seventh annual meeting at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Jeddah tomorrow under the chairmanship of Abdullah Al-Turki, secretary-general of the Muslim World League. More than 200 members from Saudi Arabia and abroad are expected to attend the meeting.
IIROSA Secretary-General Adnan Khalil Basha said a number of ministers, Islamic scholars and influential personalities from Morocco, Yemen, Thailand, Nigeria, India, Kenya, Uganda, Sudan and others will attend the meeting to discuss a number of issues and subjects related to the humanitarian work.
He said the members would come up with concrete proposals and constructive ideas on the topics on the agenda of the meeting to promote the work and activities of the organization to cope with the requirements of the era and the new developments in the humanitarian domain.
The secretary-general said the participants would review the follow-up report on the implementation of the resolutions of the sixth general assembly held last year and the observations of the members on the report. These include matters such as coordination between IIROSA and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce and Industry and other relevant parties on the issues of Zakat and Wakf so as to benefit from them in support of the projects of humanitarian, relief and developmental work.
Basha pointed out that the agenda of the meeting would also include discussing the report of the external auditor on IIROSA's accounts for the fiscal year 1431-1432H in conformity with the international standards for the second year in a row. The report will be presented by Ernst & Young, which is one of the largest auditing firms.
Among issues to be considered is the selection of an external auditor for the accounts, projects and various programs of the organization for the fiscal year 1432-1433H in addition to nominating new members to IIROSA's general assembly. “There will also be discussions on the amendments to the Statute of the Organization,” he added.
Basha said the participants would watch a documentary film on the achievements of the organization during the past year.
