The International Saudi Conference for Environment Technology continued yesterday at King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) and explored ways on how to minimize gas emissions from industrial firms and their impact on health and environment.
The first session chaired by Abdulqadir Al-Sirri, director of Arabi Company for Geological and Environmental Consultancy, examined air pollution and quality. Two work-papers were presented.
A speaker from the US Land Administration Office said controlling air pollution is achieved through preventive planning to ensure protection of public health.
The head of the US National Center for Environmental Evaluation said effective administration on quality air for protection of human health and environment stems from a proper regulatory framework.
The second session chaired by Dr. Abdullah Al-Farraj of King Saud University was on the theme of climate change and its influences and solutions. Three work-papers were presented. One paper touched on emissions of methane gas as a result of oil and gas production in the Middle East.
The third session chaired by Abdullah Khalid of KACST dealt with four work-papers. The first two papers emphasized the exploitation of carbon dioxide.
The third paper dealt with the emission of gases and their impact on climate change. The fourth paper explored challenges, solutions and experiences of the Kingdom with regard to gas emissions.
