LAHORE, 20 March 2006 — Prominent film actor Muhammad Ali died of heart failure at his Gulberg residence in Lahore yesterday.

Muhammad Ali began his professional career from Radio Pakistan Hyderabad and his first film was “Chiragh Jalta Raha” (1962). “Shararat” (1964) was his another popular film. Muhammad Ali shot to prominence through his role in “Aag Ka Darya.”

He acted in over 300 movies including some Punjabi films and worked with Zeba, Shamim Ara and other prominent actors of the time. He was a versatile actor and played negative as well as character roles very successfully.

He married Zeba, a prominent heroine of her time. Ali was a cardiac patient and underwent two surgeries. Ali and Zeba have no children.

He has left his wife Zeba and thousands of fans to mourn his death. Muhammad Ali was a philanthropist who financed a number of projects for the poor and the needy.

Prominent film personalities Nadeem, Mustafa Qureshi, Shan, Reema, Sana, Hassan Askari, Altaf Hussain, Sangeeta, Shamim Ara and others have condoled the death of Muhammad Ali.
