JEDDAH, 2 July 2005 — The SR250 million Al-Shallal theme park officially opened on Jeddah’s Corniche last Tuesday.
More than 500 thousand visitors have visited the theme park in the past six months.
Half of the workers in the garden are Saudis - 43 females and 74 males. The manager of Fakeeh tourist group, Abdulrahman Fakeeh, said that the Al-Shallal theme park is a charity project in which all the profits will be directed to charity organizations.
The total area of the project, managed by the Baker Group, is 52,000 square meters. The site has been rented from Jeddah municipality for 20 years. Fakeeh tourist group put the project out to tender to American companies for the best design. The American company “City Show” was selected.
The project includes a two-level air-conditioned indoor hall. Inside is ice-skating area designed to international standards and will stage international competitions. Apart from the ice rink the hall has a party area, children’s entertainment stage, electronic games arcades and an Amazon Jungle area.
There is a lake on an area of 28 thousand square meters, the biggest in Jeddah, surrounded by restaurants and family seating areas.
The park also has a 24 hours emergency clinic and space for parking up to 400 cars.
