JAZAN: The Jazan Mountains Development Authority is promoting specialized agricultural cultivation through a pilot project for growing blue tea, known as the Clitoria ternatea flower, considered a promising crop in mountainous areas.
The authority said the project is part of its efforts to promote sustainable agriculture in Jazan’s mountainous regions, given its economic potential and its contribution to supporting the local economy and diversifying income sources in the agricultural sector.
The initiative also encourages farmers to expand into specialized crops and benefit from agricultural resources available across the region.
The authority said blue tea is a natural product distinguished by its high nutritional value, unique flavor, and attractive natural color.
It is also caffeine-free and rich in antioxidants, which has increased its value among nutritional products and resulted in a growing interest in it as a high-value agricultural crop.
