ABHA: Data on handicrafts regulation and licensing for 2025 showed notable growth in the Kingdom’s sector, with 9,972 male and female artisans registered in the national register of artisans.
The data also showed that 5,508 licenses were issued to handicraft practitioners, while 47 licenses were granted to handicraft product retail outlets.
According to the Ministry of Culture’s 2025 annual report, Asir ranked prominently among the Kingdom’s regions in the number of artisans registered.
The region recorded 635 male and female artisans, placing it among the most active regions in handicrafts nationwide, supported by its rich cultural heritage and diverse traditional products.
This growing presence reflects Asir’s position as one of the Kingdom’s key hubs for traditional crafts.
It also enhances investment opportunities in the handicrafts sector and supports efforts to preserve national heritage while transforming it into a sustainable economic resource that contributes to income diversification and job creation.
