RIYADH: World Bicycle Day, observed annually on June 3, highlights cycling as a simple, affordable, and eco-friendly mode of transport, and a key driver of public health and sustainable urban living.
The Saudi Cycling Federation, in cooperation with the Saudi Sports for All Federation and the Sports Boulevard Foundation — and under the supervision of the Union Cycliste Internationale — marked the occasion this year with cycling tours across three cities in the Kingdom.
More than 700 participants completed six-kilometer routes at Sports Boulevard in Riyadh, Al-Rawdah Park in Abha, or ROSHN Waterfront in Jeddah.
Additional activities were held to promote physical activity and encourage healthy lifestyles.
The initiative supports Saudi Vision 2030 goals to boost participation in sports and promote healthier living. It also aims to improve public health and reduce chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes, and hypertension.
The federation’s efforts align with the Quality of Life Program, which encourages a balanced lifestyle through greater community engagement in sports and recreation.
