LONDON: A medical team sent from Jordan to northern Gaza as part of the country’s continuing support for the health sector in the Palestinian territory arrived at a field hospital in Tel Al-Hawa on Monday.

It includes 31 medical, administrative and technical personnel from the Jordanian Royal Medical Services, who will help ensure the continuous delivery of healthcare services and treatment for the residents of Gaza, the Jordan News Agency reported.

Elsewhere in the territory, medics affiliated with the Jordanian Armed Forces are operating a field hospital in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, and another in Tel Al-Hawa. They also set up a field hospital in Nablus, in the northern West Bank, in late 2023.

In addition, since March last year Jordanian authorities have evacuated hundreds of sick Palestinian children and their families from Gaza and taken them to Jordan for medical treatment as part of an initiative that aims to help about 2,000 youngsters.

Jordan has been at the forefront of efforts to provide Palestinians in Gaza with food and other humanitarian aid since the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas began in October 2023.
