RIYADH: Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan received a phone call on Thursday from his Syrian counterpart Asaad Al-Shaibani, the Saudi Foreign Ministry said.

The two ministers discussed Saudi-Syrian relations and regional developments, the ministry added.

Saudi Arabia also condemned a car bomb attack near a building affiliated with the Syrian Ministry of Defense in Damascus that killed a soldier and injured several civilians.

In a statement, the foreign ministry expressed the Kingdom’s condemnation and denunciation of the incident, reaffirming its rejection of violence and attacks that threaten security and stability.

Saudi Arabia and Syria have strengthened diplomatic engagement in recent years following the restoration of ties and broader Arab efforts to reintegrate Damascus into regional diplomacy.
