RIYADH: Saudi Arabia’s Permanent Representative to the UN Abdulaziz Alwasil recently participated in the second International Migration Review Forum at the UN’s headquarters in New York.
Alwasil emphasized that the effective management of regular migration requires international partnerships who respect countries’ sovereignty and national priorities, contributing to development and mutual benefit.
He noted that Saudi Arabia submitted its first voluntary report on the implementation of the Global Compact for Migration, reflecting an institutional approach to monitoring progress.
The Saudi envoy also reviewed key labor market and expatriate workforce reforms introduced under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reform plan.
Alwasil stressed that regular migration represents an opportunity to support growth when managed effectively, noting that remittances from residents of the Kingdom reached approximately $44 billion in 2025, contributing to international economies and supporting sustainable development.
