RIYADH: The King Salman Global Academy for Arabic Language and the Muslim World League signed a memorandum of understanding in Riyadh to reinforce the Arabic language in academic, educational and technical sectors.
The agreement was signed by deputy secretary-general Dr. Ibrahim bin Mohammed Abanmi on behalf of the academy and assistant secretary-general Abdulwahab bin Mohammed Al-Shehri on behalf of the league.
Sheikh Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, secretary-general of the league and chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, expressed pride in the partnership, praising the academy’s wide-reaching work in serving Arabic around the world.
The academy’s secretary-general, Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Washmi, added that the cooperation with the Muslim World League is an opportunity to broaden joint work and develop impactful linguistic initiatives that support the teaching of Arabic and facilitate its use in academic and technical contexts.
The memorandum aims to expand cooperation in the service of Arabic and reinforce its presence in educational and scientific environments by establishing a structured framework for joint work that supports the exchange of expertise and contributes to the development of high-quality programs and initiatives.
Areas of cooperation cover several key tracks, most notably the computerization of Arabic, the building of digital dictionaries and linguistic corpora, teaching Arabic to non-native speakers, the administration of language proficiency tests, and the exchange of linguistic services and consultations.
The memorandum forms part of the academy’s broader efforts to strengthen its international footprint and activate institutional partnerships with measurable impact; supporting the development of linguistic content and reinforcing the position of Arabic across various fields.
On the sidelines of the signing, Sheikh Dr. Al-Issa met Dr. Al-Washmi, with the two discussing a number of issues of mutual interest.
