FARASAN ISLANDS: The coasts of the Farasan Islands in the Jazan region have witnessed frequent dolphin sightings, highlighting the Red Sea’s rich biodiversity, according to a Saudi Press Agency report.
These marine mammals are often spotted in groups, leaping through the waves at sunrise and sunset, offering sailors and nature enthusiasts a unique experience in a pristine habitat.
The islands’ clear waters, diverse coral reefs, and abundant food resources provide an ideal ecosystem for dolphins to survive and reproduce.
As a protected nature reserve, the Farasan Islands support a balanced environment that sustains marine life and migratory birds, in line with the Kingdom’s environmental sustainability and quality-of-life goals.
These sightings are positioning the Farasan Islands as a growing destination for ecotourism and marine adventure, the SPA stated.
The Saudi Red Sea Authority plays a key role in regulating these activities, ensuring marine tourism develops sustainably while protecting the region’s natural resources.
