JEDDAH: The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority has foiled an attempt at Jeddah Islamic Port to smuggle 29.1 kg of cocaine into the Kingdom. The illicit substance was found concealed within the air conditioning unit of an arriving shipping container.
Hamoud Al-Harbi, the spokesperson for the authority, said the discovery was made using advanced security technologies during routine inspection procedures.
He said the authority, working closely with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control, remained committed to tightening control over imports and exports to protect society from narcotics.
The authority urged the public to support national security by reporting smuggling activities through the dedicated security number, 1910, and via email.
